In the winter of 1947, shortly before the Nationalisation of the Railways, Geoffrey was called in to help with the unusually busy workload. He later rushed out a bomb found in a brake van away from Knapford Harbour, at the cost of losing his life and taking Mr. While Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, Douglas, Lily, Adam and Peter were off fighting the Nazis, many engines from across the UK arrived on Sodor to help with the increasing workload, including Geoffrey and Alfred, who was still very resentful with him for the trick he pulled in London.
Once the work was completed a couple of months later, Geoffrey would leave Sodor. Peter returned in May of 1939, when Sodor was starting its militarisation. Geoffrey apologised to all the engines for his actions and he was forgiven. Zorro brought him back to Sodor to fill in for Peter after he had an accident and would have to be repaired at Crewe for several months. This eventually resulted in him being caught and taken away to Rail Gate Prison where he would be shunted for thirty days. He was very well-liked among the Midis and helped with Diesel in sabotaging the Nor'easters' trains.
In the summer of 1938, he visited Sodor alongside the Flying Scotsman. One particular incident was in London which caused Alfred to be very antagonistic towards him. Geoffrey was built in 1934 as an experimental mixed express-goods locomotive, he is the only one of his kind ever built.ĭuring his early years, he used to sabotage the competition in a fallacious sense of being loyal to the LMS.
